Hi Blackhole7, I took the followings steps to test in my Word 2016 for Mac: 1. Launch Word 2016 for Mac, go to File > Open > On my Mac. Thanks for the advice! I'm using microsoft word for Macs on my Macbook Air, and had the same problem. I'm running OSX10.8.5. Atari 2600 emulator windows. The fix on this version is to go to the apple logo in the corner, choose system preferences, choose general and click on Close windows when quitting an application. Open word again and close it and next time it doesn't do it. Jan 12, 2016 Thanks for the advice! I'm using microsoft word for Macs on my Macbook Air, and had the same problem. I'm running OSX10.8.5. Exit and then restart Word, go to File > Open > On my Mac, the previously selected folder (Document1) is displayed as below: Is this what you mean by 'open a document from the last folder it opened a document previously (without having to navigate there)'? Hi Yuki Sun, Yes that's exactly what I mean and it's good to hear that you can do that in Office 2016, so I may buy it. One further question: under Preferences what is the default location of documents or *.docx files? I wonder if I should never have specified a location. ![]() Because in OFFICE 2011 you can't unspecify a location. That means you've committed to Word opening in a particular location and not just, for example, the last location. I think it was an oversight in the programming. Best Regards, Blackhole7. Hi Blackhole7, >> under Preferences what is the default location of documents or *.docx files? By 'the default location', do you mean the default save location? As far as I know, the Documents setting in the File Locations has been removed in Word 2016 for Mac: Instead Word 2016 remembers the last open or save location, then takes you back to the same folder even after a restart.
